How to view only organic search traffic
Decline in the organic search can result to a website downfall, and you don’t want that. To access the organic search only view, you need to open Channel Grouping report which can be found by clicking Acquisition > All Traffic > Channels. Here the traffic sources are segmented by channel.
This report is key for your SEO success, here you can find the top search terms, keywords that drive most traffic etc.
How to measure the quality of SEO traffic
I use mainly this report to see whether there is improvement or not, the Assisted Conversions report (Conversions > Multi-Channel Funnels > Assisted Conversions). I like to set the date range from “Last Month” and to compare it with “previous period”. Month to month comparison and you will see where you stand.
Assigning Dollar Values to Organic Traffic
To assign a total dollar value to the sites organic traffic, we can compare how much the keywords would cost if they are purchased in a Google AdWords campaign.
Note: For this strategy to work you will need access to a Google AdWords account, and your Analytics will need to be synced with your Search Console account.
To find a sites keyword search phrases and queries, navigate to Acquisition > Search Engine Optimization > Queries.
To see the report, converted into dollar amounts, we need to go to Tools > Keyword Planner. For this strategy we want to choose “Get search volume data and trends”, enter the top keywords from your Google Analytics Queries report, and click “Get search volume.” On the next screen click “Keyword Ideas.”
Here we see the amount which the company would pay for the clicked ad with the certain keyword.
Identifying Slow Loading Page Times
To check the loading page time, just navigate to the Behavior > Site Speed > Page Timings, set the middle column to ‘Avg. Page Load Time’ and the right column to ‘% Exit’. What this table will show is the loading time of the page and the average exit (meaning when a visitor decides to leave the page).
Create Your Own SEO Dashboard
The client most of the times wants to see correct pie charts, bar graphs, anything that will show him if the business has grown or not. The best way we have found to present Google Analytics and SEO data is through the built in Dashboard interface.
Skip the details and add the new dashboard, navigate to Dashboards > + New Dashboard. Click on “+ Add Widget”, and title it “Total Organic Visits”. Now we need to create a filter. Under “Filter this data:” select Only show > Medium > Exactly matching > Organic.
